Smashwords has signed an agreement with Apple to distribute content via iBookstore eBooks, which is the eReader application for the iPad. According to blogger Steve Weber, Smashwords helping writers publish their works digitally. Smashwords only charge in a small percentage of book sales.

The agreement between Smashwords and iPad can help stimulate the market share of eReader content. The year of 2010 will be the year of birth of eReader. eBooks overall sales increased by 124 percent from fourth quarter 2008 to second quarter 2009.
